Making Friends While Playing A Space MMO

By Xander Y. Wyman

Interacting with other gamers in Space MMO games, commonly called massively multiplayer online games, is a vital part of the gaming experience. Of course, there are also a lot of common elements that traditional one-player space games share with their online counterparts, such as collecting items and gaining new weapons, armor, and vehicles as you progress through the game. But the critical difference between them is the extent to which you are dependent on your friends - other gamers - as you make an effort to overcome new challenges. Establishing good teams and finding great players to team up with does not have to be difficult if you apply the following suggestions as you gain some critical gaming experience.

In most space MMO games, you will find yourself starting in a rather basic area where enemies are not particularly aggressive and you have a chance to learn how to use your character. Starting out near other beginner players is helpful since you will all be facing the same challenges at roughly the same time. That grants you a great opportunity to team up with players early in the game and keep them on your friends list in the game so that you can continue to support one another as you become stronger.

Keeping track of your past teammates is a great idea because you will likely stay at roughly the same level as them and can enlist their help again later in the game. If the individuals that you have played with before are not readily available, just send a general chat message looking for new teammates. Some games are currently including automatic group finders that allow you to request a group for a specific challenge and then send you there automatically.

Remember that you should be a respectful, competent, and communicative player if you hope to develop good friendships with other players in the game. That means reacting to chat messages and group inquiries from other players, practicing your group skills so that you can benefit your teammates, and not dropping out of a group without first letting your team know.

Group adventures link with solo tasks in space MMO games to make them lots of fun. It may take you a little while to get used to working in teams in the game, but this is a vital skill that will allow you to enjoy your game much more when you reach the final levels.
