Categorizing Riders By Their Biker T-Shirts

By Jason Mills

The world of the motorcycle enthusiast is as varied and different as any hobby possibly can be. The problem is that there is no way to really classify the group as a whole because the members of this particular group don't always really associate with one another. Some of them are thought of as lone nomads who have no permanent home while others are part of a large organization of bike owners. If you really are interested in classifying this patchwork quilt of hobbyists, then you need to pay close attention to the kind of biker t-shirts that they are wearing.

There are some people who ride motorcycles merely for the thrill of it. They see the image of the classic biker, but only want to emulate that image to a certain degree. These guys wear humorous biker t-shirts to charity poker runs and to group events with their close biker friends. The feeling they get from riding is one of freedom and joy, and are generally the most kind-natured people you could ever want to know.

When people see large groups of bikers riding around , they immediately think that they are some sort of biker gang that they've seen on television and movies a dozen times. Well, the truth is that most bikers you see riding together are doing it only for the camaraderie and safety. Motorcycles are not the safest form of transportation in the world, and there is not a biker who doesn't know of someone who has lost their lives in a tragic bike accident. Biker ride together because, if there is some kind of accident, then they have help immediately on hand...which can be a life saver. These are the kinds of guys who may all wear similar biker t-shirts, but you will be able to tell from the levity of the designs that they are not dangerous.

When you get down to it, there are really just three types of biker t-shirts that you need to look for to approximately label any biker you may come across. If the biker in question is wearing a shirt that has some sort of rude, but funny, slogan on it...then you are most likely seeing the weekend warrior biker in its natural environment. These guys are casual riders who like to get on their bikes and drive around town. The second type may seem fearsome in their biker t-shirts covered in skulls, flames, and eagles; but they are really just fun-loving types who enjoy living their lives by that old biker image with full beards and leather coats.

The last are certainly the rarest, and that's a good thing. These guys are hardened criminals who really are living the life of the biker gangster. They usually don't even wear biker t-shirts, preferring to wear leather vests and coats that are covered with patches that tell the story of the wearer to anyone else in the know. Violence, crime, drugs, and death follow in the wake of these guys. If you see someone covered in jailhouse tattoos, wearing plain white or black tees, and sporting driving leathers...then have the common sense to stay away. These aren't bikers you want to play with. Luckily, they comprise only about the top 1% of all motorcyclists.
