Buying a Suitable Hookah

By John McCree

All hookahs are not the same, and choosing a hookah is not always as simple as it looks. The characteristics of the hookah you want to purchase would be influenced by the particular uses for which you want to purchase. Here are some questions you must ask yourself if you want to buy a hookah:

1. Will I use the hookah often or occasionally?

2. Will I just keep it in my house or will I move it?

3. If I have to transport it, will the size be important?

4. When not using will I keep it as a decoration or not?

5. What number of people will generally be smoking the hookah in a smoking session?

6. What must be the duration of a smoking session?

7. Is there a specific theme or character I'd like my hookah to suit?

If you answer the above questions, you are likely to make a much better decision about which hookah to purchase.

Where to Shop for Your Hookah

Much like many consumer goods these days, hookahs can be purchased both in shops and on the internet. At a brick and mortar shop, you get the benefit of looking at a number of different hookahs physically and getting advice from the seller.

Buying on the internet can be very simple as you can buy a hookah from the convenience of your house. Make sure the online store you select has a great reputation on the Internet.

Different types of Hookahs to look at

While this list isn't all-encompassing, below are some common types of hookahs to consider, which are intended for different tastes, uses, and budgets:

1. Egyptian Hookah - The Egyptian hookah has a tall, thin stem and a frame made of copper or brass. It is moderately priced and really common.

2. Syrian Hookah - The hoseport of this kind of hookah features an upward angle. It is a bit pricey in comparison to the Egyptian hookah.

3. Crystal Hookah - These type of hookahs are incredibly classy and very costly. Crystal hookahs can also be used for decoration in the home due to its design and style.

4. Rotating Hookah - Finest hookah for many people to use in one smoking session. The base of this hookah swivels at an angle of 360 degrees, which makes it much easier to pass the hose.

5. Mini Hookah - For traveling smokers, or people who need to store their hookahs somewhere with little space available, mini-hookahs are the best option, and are typically economical.

6. Specialty Hookah - Specialty hookahs are perfect for those who want to buy a hookah to suit their unique personality. The cost of specialty hookah can vary from inexpensive to very pricey. It depends on what you want.

What To Do Before Buying

It would be good if you test out different types of hookah before you choose one. The purpose of all kinds of hookahs is the same, to smoke. But specific characteristics of a hookah can make it a far better match for you. For instance, bigger hookahs (x inches plus) usually require more suction in order to smoke. Some smokers find this too much work, and prefer to smoke a smaller hookah. A larger bowl generally lasts longer than a smaller bowl since it can have more quantity of shisha.

If you have the convenience of having hookah bars around your house, you can get practice by trying several different hookahs before buying yours. The next hookah you buy may end up staying with you for life, so make it a good purchase!
