Can You Use Beadwork To Treat Health Conditions?

By Daniel Turbin

It is possible to use beadwork to cure medical conditions? The answer to this question will depend on who you ask. While most sane people would never suggest that wearing stones could treat cancer or other critical diseases, there is some evidence that reveals some gemstones may give the user something more than simply a beautiful accessory.

For instance, if you are tensed you can benefit from wearing a necklace made with Labradorite. This stone originates from the earths crust and people who wear it are likely to be more in tune with the normal rhythm of life. It is supposed to reduce levels of stress and anxiety. Moonstone, another member of the feldspars group, is a nice stone to use when presenting a gift for a swimmer as it is thought to keep them safe.

Amber is supposed to attract love and friends. In China, Jade is considered especially lucky and many Chinese people will wear or carry a piece of jade since they believe it will keep them safe. You probably have seen jade charms in the shape of a butterfly. These are thought to be especially lucky and are commonly given as gifts between loved up couples. You can make a charm bracelet for a friend or family member who is going travelling. Fix a jade charm to it to keep them safe and sound and then they can buy different beads on their travels to add to this beadwork.

Whether the stones have real powers or simply create a placebo effect isn't really important. If someone is feeling down or distressed and gets a lift from wearing a piece of beadwork definitely that's a nice thing.

Even in modern medicine, placebos are sometimes used and the results obtained can be amazing. Undoubtedly you would never try to cure depression or any other disease with a piece of stone and should seek medical care first. But making a nice gift for someone who is feeling under the weather is a sensible thing to do.
