How Jersey Shore Came And Went

By Dwayne Morefield

In this article I'm about to tell you everything that I know about Jersey Shore.

From 2009 to 2012, just 3 years, Jersey Shore aired on the MTV cable network.

Filmed in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the series is about the lives of eight young guys and girls, called guidos and guidettes, who lived for a time in the touristy N.J. town and whom were followed continuously by cameras, filming their every step. The people that were filmed became bigger than life, mixing up into different circumstances in their work and personal lives - some of which were rather shocking. It was really these various characters and how they harmonized that made the tv show so attractive and wildly popular.

To be sincere, I think that the tv show was rather addictive to view. I often laughed hilariously at a few of the antics of the guidos.

However, exactly what is a guido anyhow? Guido is specified as "driver." It is an Italian-American word made use of to explain particular types of men and gals with qualities that could possibly be referred to as narcissistic. Guidos generally have in shape bodies and are young and tanned. Dare I say, the weight room is a male guido's friend. Furthermore, nothing is ever too brief for the guidettes. They prefer to dress provocatively. Plus, wearing jewelry is quite often a necessity for both men and girls.

The shooting didn't proceed without incident since the citizens of Seaside Heights actually didn't wish to have their own neighborhood "polluted". They figured that shooting such a provocative reality series isn't good for their little community. Nevertheless, they quit in the end and the tv show started.

The intriguing thing about Jersey Shore is the reality that the residence where the guidos and guidettes took up residence was actually loaded with cameras. The only place where there had not been a camera was the bathing room. Some of the members of the cast later on stated that they would waist hours under the shower just to get away from all the cameras. In reality, Nicole Polizzi, one of the original girls, surprisingly stated that many of the crazy things that were going on in the residence were actually their responses to those cameras. There is no denying that following young individuals around with cameras without end will have that effect.

Without fail, the tv critics were not nice to Jersey Shore. Plus, lots of Italian Americans were rather put-off as their perception of "Guido" is that of an ethnic insult.

As the program continued airing, the controversy was pervasive as well with objections and significant sponsors canceling contracts. It was these responses from the sponsors that at last put a final end to the show.

To hypothesize, I would state that this reality series wasn't even meant for adults. Controversial goings on that could solely be comprehended by that age group were commonly aired during "family viewing times" - when allegedly moms and dads and children are watching. Specifically, Jersey Shore might truly be evaluated as a low-value show for anyone except the young teenagers it targeted.
