Making Costmetic Soap As A Hobby

By Gerard H Darrington

If you are looking to get away from the high street spend and would prefer something a little unique then why not consider making your own soap. You can choose your own colours and there are many colours to choose from. Also you can choose your fragrance and there is also a massive selection to choose from right across the board.

There are several ways to make soap by hand and these come in many stage by stage processes however if you are looking to make soap and home on a small scale then one of the best ways to start out is the melt and pour soap base. It is one of the most easiest ways to make soap and you can be sure that you will get a fairly good product each time. So below is a simple guide to this process.

1. Find a really good melt and pour soap base.

2. Prepare your workspace and make sure everything is clean.

3. Cut the soap into even chunks and choose suitable containers.

4. Melt the soap base either in a glass bowl on hot water or in the microwave.

5. Add the fragrance that you want the soap so smell of.

6. Add the colouring but make sure you don't add too much.

7. Mix the soap well but make sure you don't stir any bubbles of air into it.

8. Pour your soap into the mod.

9. Once the soap has set, carefully remove it from the mold.

10. You do not need to cure the soap this will have already been done.

Only take the above as a rough guide on how to create soap. If you think it looks easy then get a fuller description on how to create soap and make sure you buy the best ingredients. If a soap base looks cheap then it probably won't be that nice when you have made it. Also remember that it takes time to perfect a skill like making soaps so the first few times might not be great.

If you want some inspiration for creating soaps then get your children or friends involved. It is fun to do and when you have finished you have a great gift for a family member on their birthday, alternatively go for some self indulgence and keep the soap for yourself.
