By Anne Hetris

Here's a trivia fact you may not have heard before. That is that every time 5 seconds clicks by on your clock, one more romance novel is purchased. It adds up to an amazing amount of books and the nationally accredited new magazine News Week recently reported that it all adds up to over one-billion dollars in annual revenue. Quite a bit of money, to say the least.

In fact these types of books, with their passion filled story lines, are now regularly prescribe therapy by many sex therapists, and marriage councillors and you may be surprised to find out why. The reason they're doing it is quite basic. That is that other recent studies and surveys have determined that people who read them have better marriages, with more sex.

People who read about romance and all it entails also tend to think about it more. They dwell on it in much the same way as anyone would who reads about anything else for that matter on a regular basis. Be it current events, sports, romance, or even model trains. If you take the time to open a book and read about something, it's just going to spark your interest.

Now if this "romance novel improved love life" connection comes as news to you, it's something that people who have been reading them have known all along. Women in particular are aroused by the emotional stimulation that these books provide. Quite simply, after reading about a love affair or romance, they too feel the need for love, romance, and sex.

In fact reading the stories contained in these books has been likened to or referred to as "emotional foreplay" by a noted researcher who has studied them extensively. She also noted that women can undergo actual physiological changes both during and after reading them. Their heart rates increase, hormone levels go up, and even "feel good" brain chemicals like dopamine are boosted.

So after seeing all the positive things that have been discovered in these studies, it's not hard to see why so many people who have never read one are no taking a look. If this is your case then is aware that that there are more story lines to choose from now including even gay and vampire romance stories. So make a point of looking them all over well before you make your selection.
