The Advantages Of Custom Fitting Golf Clubs

By Tom Doerr

For a while now, many players have chosen to have their golf clubs custom fitted. The advantages of this is that when the instruments are modified to a person's exact style, the entire form is made more complete. This automatically should improve that player's game. The adjustments are done according to the customer's individual style of play. These alterations can be made to the instruments already used by the person; new instruments are not necessarily required.

The exact details of custom fitting revolve around personal swing styles as well as height and build. Professional players have been doing it for years already. During this time, manufacturers have also been improving the products sold to the general public. This has helped greatly, but the problem is that any general design is still a generic design, and cannot cater to one's exact style.

Custom fitting can be done at most pro shops, fitting centers, and specialist stores. What happens is that the person is made to hit a few balls. As he or she swings, a computer known as a launch monitor details and analyzes the swings.

The launch monitor lists details on the customer's style thereafter. This shows how to customize instruments to the customer's specifications. The whole analysing and planning process for this can take less than 30 minutes.

An estimate of the best instruments suited to the player for future purchase is also then shown. This is based on the player's individual style - the person's strengths and weaknesses. It shows which instruments will work best.

Having one's own golf clubs custom fitted will usually cost a small fee. This price is not static, however. In addition, if the fitting is done on new clubs, there is often no additional fee. The fitting is then considered part of the purchase.
