How To Write Using Symbols In Poetry

By Enid Hinton

You have always wanted to pursue your passion. Writing is something that you have always found to be therapeutic and at the same time, liberating. You know that you can never be truly the person you are now unless you get to really express your thoughts into written words. You are not a very good communicator to begin with. So, might as well pursue something that would require less talk.

Poems are your expertise though. You like how you can interweave words into something picturesque whenever you attempt at verses and phrases through this medium. Still, there is a long way for you to go to be truly able to express what you want to express through this channel. This is why you have decided to do what you can to be more familiar with the symbols in poetry.

Many of the people that have tried out these kinds of write-ups before agree that it is always hard for them to start things up. They seem to find it really hard to determine what are the things that they should write first to start the prose. Breaking the ice can be a different process for everybody, make sure that you find an effective way to establish yours.

Establish your goals. It is always very important that you have a good idea of the direction that you want the whole write up to head to. You want to be sure that you have these goals established ahead of time. They can give you the necessary guide that will allow you to get write ups that you are sure you are going to e truly pleased with. They give you that sense of direction that you need.

Find out who your audiences are going to be too. You want to determine who are the kinds of people that you would want to read about what you have written about. Aside from knowing what you goals are, it is important to consider the demographics of your readers, then, you can fashion your write-ups in accordance to your audiences. This way, you know they can relate to what you write better.

Avoid writing those cliched liens over and over again. Instead of using these cliches, what you can do is come up with something that will help you elaborate them. Make sure to get your points to really come across. Instead of relying on overused overrated lines that many others used before. Come up with something of your own. Create something original. Be more creative.

Always have a theme to base everything on. Not having a theme is like walking down road were you are not sure where you are headed to. Sure, spontaneity can be fun, but not when you are wrong poems. You want to have a clear sense of direction beforehand. Only by choosing a theme and using it as your guide on where you are supposed to be headed to can you do so.

Use images. No, you do not physically draw the pictures that you would want your readers to see. Rather, you have to paint them with words. Use phrases. Let the viewers see what you see with every word, every phrase, every line that you write down. You will be surprised how powerful the imagination can be.
