When dealing with a recruitment agent, make sure you are honest with them. Honesty will be the gateway to helping the recruitment agent to discover your potential and weaknesses. They will then advice you on how to cover your weaknesses and how to milk the worth out of your strengths.

Give enough details to the job agency as much as possible. Tell him about a termination or a conviction of a past criminal offence. As much as you are paying them, they will want you to reflect well upon them on their clients. Make a clear description of the job you wish to be selected for. Give them your terms and qualifications for a better understanding. Do not be too demanding in the process as that will make it hard for the recruiter to connect you to a potential employer.

If you happen to attend an interview, make contact with your recruitment agent and follow up on the progress of your job recruitment process. Do this only if you feel the process is too slow but do not be a bother once you get your feedback. Have an open mind and try to be realistic on your good and bad points of getting a job. Seek advice from the agency if you feel there might be any problem, fear or doubt of attracting a potential employer.

If by any chance you feel you are not happy on the progress the recruiting agency, talk to them about how you feel. Make an independent decision of whether you want to continue working with them or not. You do not want to be taken for a ride with your money.
