Knowing About A Swedish Female Singer

By Cecile Ingram

To the average American a Swedish female singer is really no big deal. They have heard so many of these talented people in the past that it has become quite common. ABBA introduced every U. S. Citizen to two spectacular women who really know how to belt out a tune. The fantastic people within this group were Bjorn Kristian Ulvaeus, Frida Lyngstad, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Faltskog.

During their time together this quartet made very amazing music together and they will certainly be remembered in history. Agnetha Faltskog was the very pretty blonde lady within this group and she was born in Sweden. This lady had a dad who worked in a store and a mom who simply stayed at home to raise her children. She had always been interested in the entertainment world and started writing songs at an early age.

The piano was her favorite musical instrument while growing up and she took the time to play it at church. She decided to start a girl band named "The Cambers" before the age of eleven. Her hometown really enjoyed the concerts that these girls put on during the holidays. She was only fifteen when she decided to leave her school for bigger opportunities.

She wanted to desperately try her luck at singing and this was the golden opportunity for her to take this chance while people loved the music. She considers Aretha Franklin, Lesley Gore and Connie Francis to be her role models when it comes to great artists. Agnetha mainly wrote songs about romance and the heartbreak which comes along with it.

The sixties proved to be a great year for Faltskog since she met Bjorn Ulvaeus during that time. They shared a true romance and even got married in 1971. Their passion ended in 1979 but they were able to have two children during this very special time. Their breakup did not have a negative effect within the ABBA group. "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was based upon their split.

People everywhere know Frida Lyngstad as "Frida" since she took on this stage name decades earlier. Norway is her native land even though she was raised in Sweden. She had a German dad while her mother was Norwegian. Alfred Haase was her father's name and he served within the German military for quite a period of time. Frida's mother died at a very young age due to a severe illness.

She is very much like her grandmother since they both enjoyed good music and could sing any tune. The older woman was Frida's mentor and legal guardian after her mother's untimely death. Frida would always tell everyone how great her grandmother was when she did chat shows on television. She found success at thirteen with a local orchestra and finally met her ABBA lover Benny Andersson some years later.

This Swedish female singer would only stay married to this handsome man for a period of three years even though they were engaged for nine. Frida found success again after ABBA had ended when she launched a solo career and had the hit single "I Know There's Something Going On".
