Kindergarten Kids Spend Weekends Having Fun With Digital Stamps

By Heidi Arrowood

People have always enjoyed the hobby of collecting stamps. It is a way to learn about other countries and an endless number of important public figures. Now a new version of this collectible has come along. A collector finds many ways to have fun with digital stamps too.

They can be used in a variety of ordinary and unusual ways. Apply them to cards, print them on paper and then cut them out to glue on to the cards. There are a number of craft ideas that can make use of them. They are becoming ever more popular.

Some collectors refer to them as digi stamps. These black and white images can be used as they are or can be colored. The coloring can be done before printing them or after printing them.

The digital image files are similar to clip art, but have several differences. Mainly, they have no acrylic or wooden base as rubber stamps do. After printing, they can be used just like the rubber version, however.

You can color the black and white digital files before printing or after. They can be embossed and used to create scrapbook pages. These can be used to make hard bound or digital scrapbooks. Greeting cards made with them are prized by family members.

You do not have to wait for them to be delivered to your house. Select them, order them and have them delivered right online. The purchase price is nominal.

Crafting ideas are endless. These can be applied to fabric, including canvas. They can also be applied to glass, enabling you to decorate coffee mugs for gifts. There is no problem with storing and keeping track of them because they will remain on your computer until you decide to delete them.

Keep them for your own future use while also sharing them with others. All you need is a computer, a printer and publishing software, such as the one most people have on their computer. There are a few drawbacks. Sometimes the printer ink will bleed, blurring the image. You may use lots of paper and ink cartridges since it takes more than one try to perfect a craft project.

Groups of children from Girl Scout Troops to kindergarten classes love to use them to make crafting projects. Mothers use them at home to keep little ones occupied instead of watching television all day. Their special pictures are displayed on the refrigerator. Greeting cards and thank you notes take on a personal look. It is amazing how many new and clever ideas the children come up with then they are having fun with digital stamps.
