Expert Tips For Perfect Dahlia Flower Arrangments

By Karen McDonald

Dahlia is a beautiful species but this beauty can be lost because of how it is arranged. Combining it with other flowers also affects its beauty. Perfect dahlia flower arrangments can only be achieved step by step. Here are secrets by experts on how to have a magical arrangement for the species and other flowers.

Select a perfect flower. It is this flower that will anchor all the other elements that will be added into the arrangement. It should therefore be of perfect bloom level, color, shade and even size. Keep away from flowers that have wilted because they take away the shine off an arrangement.

Choose elements that will enhance the texture of your flowers. A single species cannot be any beautiful, even when planted on an entire acre. Mixing with other flowers adds the aspect of beauty. Some of the flowers you can use for this purpose include lisuanthus, poms, ferns and eucalyptus. Choose flowers with scents that compliment.

Gather the tools you will require to make the arrangement. Processing and arranging of flowers is done on a table. It should manage to accommodate all the tools comfortable to make the work easier. A paring knife or scissors will help you in cutting the stalks. A floral tape is also necessary and the vase you will use. A rose stem cleaner is required for flowers with thorns. You can improvise some of these tools if you are not doing it professionally or over many projects.

Identify the vase that will serve your desired purpose. The appropriateness of the vase used will depend on the needs of your project. The project determines the color, weight, design, size and other unique aspects of each vase. Choose a size that can accommodate your envisaged number of flowers. The vase should be decorated in a way that compliments your design.

Process flowers for placement onto the vase. This involves unpacking of the flowers and preparing the vase where the flowers will be placed. Add water at room temperature and some flower food. Water that is too hot or too cold will shock your flowers. Cut the edge of the stem so that your stock can take in water. This process enables the blooms to open a little and also hydrate as they get used to room temperature.

Set up a grid on your vase. This defines which flower type will go where. The grid also affect the shape of the entire arrangement. Long and large flowers go in first because they will anchor others to determine the ultimate design. Special wires or a special sponge are also used to define the shape of a floral arrangement.

The greens go in first. They help to form a solid base on which your flowers will be organized. This is the natural or universal approach to arrangement. Handle stems with care to protect them from crushing. Do not use wilted flowers when arranging a vase because they will be visible and affect your entire organization.

The beauty of flowers is maintained through regular care. You will have to mist the arrangement on regular basis and also change the water. Some arrangements make it difficult to change your water without dismantling. Run the tap on the vase until all the water is replaced. Prepare an arrangement that will be impressive from all angles.
