Abba Outselling JLS In Concert Ticket Sales Battle

By Andrew Lawson

Tickets sales from Aloud.com have revealed that a leading tribute show devoted to Swedish pop megastars ABBA is outselling the likes of JLS in the battle to be top of the pops with UK gig-goers.

The success of hit musical Mamma Mia! on both the big screen and in theatres across the world has sent interest in ABBA soaring and introduced their back catalogue to a new audience.

Even two decades after the band's separation, Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny and Bjrn - the band members from which the band's acronym was formed - are unlikely ever to reunite to perform again as ABBA. Fans desperate for their fix means that ABBA The Show gig tickets are in incredibly high demand.

The most recent ABBA The Show tour played to in excess of 100,000 fans in venues spanning the length and breadth of Europe, while the act been performed in as many as 33 different countries in total and to over two million people worldwide. Excitement levels are currently building ahead of the show's UK return in November.

Even up against contenders such as JLS, the popular British boyband that rose quickly to fame after appearing on UK talent Show X-Factor in 2008, the ticket sales for ABBA The Show haven't suffered.

While interest in the boyband's upcoming summer dates has remained very healthy, Aloud.com - one of Britain's leading ticket websites - has reported that ABBA The Show has so far proven more popular and has managed to sell more concert tickets than JLS. Simon Harper, Aloud.com's Marketing Manager, said: "Whether you're a Dancing Queen or a Super Trouper, ABBA's musical legacy continues to live on in the form of ABBA The Show.

"We've been extremely encouraged by the interest in the forthcoming tour on Aloud.com, so much so that current sale figures for ABBA The Show are better than those for the JLS dates. I'm sure the JLS boys will welcome the competition for music tickets and it just goes to show how diverse the music scene is here in the UK at the moment."

And not only is ABBA The Show up against JLS, but also the likes of Bryan Adams, hip hop icon Snoop Dogg and dad-rockers Status Quo and James Blunt - a testament to the popularity and success of this seminal hit musical.
