A careful selection for the pot is the first step. Clay pot is the preferred type since is commonly used by many households for their gardens. To ensure its cleanliness, wash and scrub the inside and outside parts with soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and let it completely dry so that no moisture will be left. Be sure that it is firm but can be dismantled into small pieces because not all these work well on this artwork. If you are unsure about it, ask an expert. Consider also the accent pieces or the design. Browse for designs, patterns and colors that add an interesting look, instead of settling for one or two plain and colored ones.

Once you are done with the selection process, you may now start creating a mosaic. Of course, you must have protective eye wear, small hammer, nipper, working gloves, thick towel or clothing, and a clear and flat work space to get this done. These are important for purposes of safety measures. On a clean and flat surface, lay the tile and place. A heavy clothing must be placed over it. Using your small hammer, tap gently, not smash, it until it is broken into pieces. Smashing it may cause disintegration. Complete the breaking process for those that may not have been broken completely by nipping them.

Now that they are ready for adhesion, prepare the mortar powder. Mix it constantly with water until the mixture is fully incorporated. Mortar powder with thin layer and polymer will definitely produce best outcomes. Remember to use it immediately. Otherwise, it will be dry over time and its consistency will be affected or changed.

Finally, you can now create a mosaic design. Spread the mixture of mortar at the back of the tile piece and affix it right away to the flower pot. Repeat it to other pieces. Once they are completely set, be sure the grout is made. You can mix it with acrylics if you want it vibrant and colorful instead of gray. Let it dry for two hours before the finished product can be used.
