Why Homeowners Should Use The Best Mole Trap

By Estelle Larsen

When moles invade your gardens and lawns, the next thing you start seeing is a series of tunnels and holes that are dug all over. Although these creatures may be helpful to some extent, their presence in your compound brings problems. The most efficient way to get rid of them is by using the best mole trap. If you think that you can capture them alive- forget it.

When these pests invade lawns and gardens, they uproot plants, tear apart your green grass, and create series of holes in the entire gardens. If you want to do away with them, you should use trapping devices. These are not live traps since it is difficult to capture moles alive. Before trapping these creatures, it is essential you learn how they behave.

Because you may find many holes in your gardens, you need to study the movement of moles. Look at the tunnels which they are using recently and remember that they may not use one tunnel more than twice. The constant change in location will require you to dedicate some time to detect the holes they are using.

You will find many holes dug within your gardens but the moles may not be using them all. During their feeding patterns, moles dig holes and they move from one location to another. If they discover that foods such as larvae and insects are no longer available in a specific location, they will move to new grounds. They abandon those holes and do not use them often.

Some repellants may be used to keep them away. Poisons are also applied but considering the risk posed by these substances, they might not be recommended. If you have children and pets at home, they might eat the poison baits and die. There are different types of trapping devices available in the market and choosing the right one will make it easier for you to capture the animals.

In order to succeed in trapping moles, you have to master the art of setting up the devices. It is not usually an easy task for first time users of these tools. In facts, you have to be very precise on how you set them. Even with the best trapping device, if you do not set it right, it will not be able to capture a mole.

The process does not just entail setting a cage for the critter to enter or putting some poison baits inside the tunnels. You have to look at the entire network and how the tunnels appear. The straight tunnels or the ones against some edges or walls are a good bet if you want to be successful. Moles will tend to use the straight tunnels or those located near edges such as the house or sidewalks.

By using your trapping tools, you will be able to eliminate the menace caused by these creatures. It will keep your gardens and lawns protected from the destruction caused by moles. Try to avoid those ineffective and risky techniques such as use of poison baits and repellents. That way, you will successfully trap them while keeping other animals, pets, and kids safe from dangerous trapping techniques.
