By Leticia Jensen

Most people have been surviving on income from art works such as embroidery. It is an art of beautifying fabrics and other items. This art is very common and has been in existence for many years. It is subdivided into various categories depending on the materials used as well as how the art is applied. One of the categories is silk ribbon embroidery whose name originates from the material used for decoration that is silk.

Various decoration styles are applied in this form of embroidery for example different shapes and sizes as well as arrangement. The variation in the design is an advantage because it gives room for all sorts of orders. The most common pattern applied in this design is the floral but other patterns are applied as well.

The work is mostly for beauty purposes and making items more attractive. Most items held in various homes are decorated by silk ribbon art works.an example of these items include cushions for seats as well as vehicles, beddings, gift items and clothes. Dresses put on by models mostly have this embroidery. Some note books currently fall in the category of these items as well.

As provided by the name, they are made from the material silk which is a shiny material that comes in different colors. On the other hand they are made from ribbons, that is, tiny materials. The fact that there is variety of colors makes it even much common because there is no point that a customer will miss the design on the basis of color.

It is also important to note that the availability of silk ribbons in different colors and sizes make this more popular and preferential amongst both current and potential users of the products. This is one of the contributing factors of the good reputation because different people have different preferences and meeting the preference of the majority is a good strategy.

The popularity of this design has resulted to its high demand which has a negative impact in its price. The high demand with the constant production rate makes it less available to the buyers giving room to the producers to raise the prices of their art works. Despite their high prices, comparison with other forms of embroidery gives only a slight difference.

It is mostly undertaken by the use of needle and thread manually. Machines are used in rare occasions for example joining the ribbons which are used in the creation of the design. The manual work is mostly performed by individuals who have gone through a training session of which most are female.

It is clear that this is a great art work which has come a long way and still has the potential of improvements. Despite its slightly high prices, people still go for it making the most preferred. Those who have the talents can really get a fortune by venturing into this business because it still has the potential for growth.
