Antique Flea Market Shopping Fun

By Elinor Tran

Shopping can be a great experience, but shopping antique flea market Indianapolis is wonderful. You can purchase part of history and have a good time while doing so. Here are some guidelines that, if followed, will make your shopping trip even more beneficial.

Make sure the day you choose for your antiquing day you wear comfortable shoes, because you'll be doing a lot of walking. Also comfortable clothes are important, as are pants that have lots of pockets. You can store small items you purchase in those pockets and will have less bags to carry around the flea market.

You'll need a few tools of the professional antique buyers trade as well. A tape measure helps if you fall in love with a furniture piece but are worried it may not make it through the doorway of your home. A magnifying glass helps to read hallmarks on pottery or porcelain and also shows any surface damage on other types of products. Also, having cash money is a must. Most dealers won't handle checks or charge cards, but they will be happy if you have enough cash on hand, and you might get a better price.

Go ready to haggle with the vendor a bit, but don't be insulting and act as though the price is too high. Just say 'Is this your best price?' and let them name a lower price. Most are more than happy to bargain a little. Just remember, if you love something so much you feel you can't live without it, get it. It's heartbreaking to walk away from something and come back to get it later and find it gone.

Choose which time of the day you prefer to go. Early birds will get a better shot at a wider variety of merchandise, but latecomers get the benefit of lower prices, as most vendors would rather sell things than lug them back home again. Whichever you prefer, both will net you a different market experience.

Using these tips, you're prepared to hit antique flea market Indianapolis and shop till you drop. With the wide variety of markets to choose from, you'll have fun and come away with some great bargains. Now get going and start shopping.
