Have you ever had something go so terribly wrong that you wish it never happened in the 1st place? Something that came out so badly you were embarrassed about the entire thing and just wish it would go away?
I have and that was my high school scrapbook.
It was over twelve years ago and I was still relatively new to scrapping. I only had a few albums under my belt by this time.
I had picked up several bits and bobs for my album and was eagerly assembling and sticking it in where I thought it looked good.
I presumed it might be a clever idea to use some of my permanent markers that I had left over from my old art classes for the part of my album covering my art pieces. Unfortunately I didn't think about how thick the paper was and the markers leaked through the paper and onto the pictures on the following page... Fantastic (NOT!).
I was later carving out a picture with a scalpel when it slipped off the image and went right through 4 pages of my book. I then had to do some very creative rearrangement to cover up the tears on the page.
I'd had about enough of this book and gave up on working on it for that night.
Little do I know that the cover of the book itself was sitting in a puddle of glue. If that was not bad enough, this glue had set while I had the book resting on the table overnite. When I came and picked up the book in the morning it ripped off the top layer of the backcover.
Obviously, this was the point of no return. After having trouble after trouble with this album, the one thing that felt right was to salvage everything I could, and burn the rest. Let me tell you, it was terribly therapudic.
So the next time you are working on your school scrapbook, spare a thought for me and hope that it does not happen to you.
