Six Famous Male Opera Singers

By Ronald Richardson

Perhaps lesser people are still listening to any classical and opera genre of music. You cannot blame them though because that is not the trend nowadays. However, one performance coming from Dimash Kudaibergen, Kazakhstan singer who is into pop and classical crossover, had stunned the Chinese audience with his heavenly voice as he sang some operatic songs. It just means that this genre is still not dead and others are still having some passion for it. Furthermore, people should be aware of these talented male classical opera singers.

Placido Domingo. He is a Spanish opera singer who is also a conductor and an administrator in arts. Predominantly, his singing voice was in spinto and then he shifted into dramatic tenor. He is best known for his Don Jose, Canio, Cavaradossi and Hoffman. Aside from that, he had won fourteen Latin Grammy and Grammy awards and had collaborated with Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti as The Three Tenors.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Not only his striking looks will astound you but also baritone voice which made him worldwide famous. Dmitri is a Russian artist and his international debut started in 1989 for he won a competition and beat another famous opera singer. The Peoples magazine has also included him in the rankings of most beautiful people. He also made a collaboration with Renee Fleming in Eugene which became one of his best acts.

Jose Carreras. Jose, a Spanish artist with a beautiful tenor voice, is noted for his performances from Puccini and Verdi. At the age of eleven, he started his operatic stage career then performed more than sixty roles and became famous particularly when he joined The Three Tenors alongside with Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. He had gained many awards from his career as well as humanitarian works.

Luciano Pavorotti. His fame had dubbed him as King of High Cs in the twentieth century. Aside from that, no one can deny that Luciano had expanded and shared the wonders of opera music to the world. No wonder people will always remember him. In fact, he is one of Three Tenors and he did many collaborations with notable artists that is not in line with his genre.

Andrea Bocelli. According to Celine Dion, if the Heavenly Father can speak to humans, his voice will be like Andrea Bocelli. No one can blame her from saying that because he indeed has a beautiful voice. Despite his blindness, he made a history in classical crossover music for becoming the biggest-selling singer.

Lawrence Brownlee. Lawrence is an American tenor who got several positive reviews from both audiences and musicians from his voice. He also got praise from his performance in Armida together with Renee Fleming and his several engagement with Metropolitan Opera. His best works includes his performance in La Centerola in which Elina Garanca is part of that.

Philippe Jaroussky. Philippe has a unique voice of countertenor which is quite rare for men. Some might raise their brow when hearing some mezzo soprano males but his voice is on another level because he perfected his technique. He has been doing some operas and his versatility has been cleared with his acts.

These men are certainly talented. They also helped in making this genre spread. Hopefully, another talented opera musician will emerge.
