Important Tips While Using Orchard Ladders

By Shirley Evans

Ladders are used for climbing up and down an inclined or vertical set of steps and are classified into two types. The first one is rigid which can support itself or leaned into vertical surfaces like walls and are either portable or fixed permanently to a building, structure or equipment. Second is flexible made from rope or aluminum that is hanged usually on top.

There are those that are also made for particular uses although using them for other purposes is doable but not recommended. Samples of these are the orchard ladders and is used fruit pickers and landscapers which prevent several injuries and falls. It is durable, portable and designed with a tripod and flared base to provide support in uneven or soft ground.

The ladder is made usually from wood, fiberglass and aluminum, and also has two types known as straight and tripod. There are two types too with the former one namely pointed top and the open top which both have a flared base. Meanwhile, the latter is considered more popular with three legs where its third leg forms the tripod and give support for different conditions.

These are several tips for knowing when to use the ladders such as for harvesting operations only and just pruning. Just let a single person climb it, securely tie it prior to climbing and avoid using them on firm ground since it might tip or collapse any moment. If you feel a little dizzy or tired then never step on it because you may lose balance.

The recommended shoes in climbing them are those with slip resistance and are clean but avoid leather soles because they are unsafe. Never use them when winds are strong or in storms, before using it, make sure to inspect its condition if it is good and select one suitable for the job. Never move it if you are upon it, wear tool belt or safety belt, and climb slowly without moving too much.

Injuries and falls are common accidents when using ladders with some factors contributing to these like sudden movement, lack of attention, footwear, its age and its bad condition. Accidents may even happen when just moving, lifting and carrying them. That is why workers should be trained well.

If you need them for your fruit farm to pick fruits from your trees then search online for companies selling these. Specify the name of your location as this filter results to show only those operating nearby. Doing so excludes those from other countries, states and cities, making it easier to sift them through.

You can request for some recommendations from your friends, associates and relatives, specially those who previously required this. Getting recommendations from persons you trust would be an advantage because their opinions will be told to you honestly. Find out about the company more by doing a little research on them.

Visit several review sites to check the opinions of other people regarding their customer service as well as product quality. Inquire for the cost of their products then compare them with other companies. If you buy online, ask for the expected arrival date.
