How A Faux Fur Throw Is Being Made

By Brenda Hayes

Faux is a French word originally and it means fake, false, or a simulation. Fake products are being made by some manufacturers to just purely imitate or simulate items. They are really attempting to make these products to look like more closely as the original item. Their reason for this is for them to avoid some controversies about the over use of animal furs.

There are many varieties of ways in producing faux materials. One of which are finishes, these are made out from marble dust. Marbles and some other types of stones are finished with the use of sponging, spatter dash, or feather streaking techniques. Fake furs are becoming popular because of the animal welfare promotion. So faux fur throw products now are being produced as an alternative for real clothing and considered as animal friendly.

Aside from its purpose in some clothing, these are also use in stuffed animals, home decorations such as bedding and pillows, and as well as for fashion accessories. Real furs are a bit thicker. So for this reason, special sewing machines for its production are used.

In this generation, popularity of these fur types is increasing, especially when talking about fashion designing. It is considered today as popular for winter fashion which includes jackets and hats. For sure, modern designers are already thinking on some ideas for future fur collections. Most of the designers would prefer on using these faux materials due to its color and volume that can be easily controlled during production.

Variations of different materials are being used in fake furs. Polymeric fibers are the most typical materials being utilized. These are being processed and are being dyed to achieve the desired texture and color. Modacrylic and acrylic polymers are common types polymers used.

Modacrylic polymer and acrylic polymer have their characteristics that are very useful and these include weight lightness and it is also springy. Other useful characteristics are its sunlight, smoke, and heat resistance. It also has resistance to mildews, thus, lessening the attacks of insects. It also contains low absorbency making it dry quickly. Wool, silk, and mohair fabrics can be used to improve the appearance of the garment.

I monitoring the production, raw materials are to be inspected first. Other features like resiliency, absorbency, pH, density, and appearance are monitored as well. While the fabrication is on going, every single time, manufacturers are doing a test for samples to ensure quality and to surely meet the requirements.

Modern technologies have helped in improving the factors of quality production and this include its appearance. Some researchers have said that there will be more productions of these materials are to be developed. These materials have improved its quality, look, and lesser cost. New techniques for faster and more efficient production are being investigated.

Since there is a continuous growth of the demand of these products, it would not be easy for a person in distinguishing faux from natural. And these may be one reason for the increase in the demand. Lastly, the manufacturers must strive in producing products that are of higher quality but have lesser cost.
