One of the commonly used vegetables in almost every home or restaurants is the garlic. There are numerous types of garlics that we could use for our cooking. But as its season nearly winds down, you know to yourself that you must keep a handful of them until next harvesting season comes. With this, here are some tips on how to store garlic for long term purposes.

You ought to remember several things in order for you to pick the best garlic to keep. Look first on its bulbs. Never store those still sprouting, soft, or damaged ones. It wont last a month in storage place. You need those undamaged ones because they are the ones that are best for long term usage.

The most common ways of storing this vegetable is by placing them in mesh bags or in your loose woven baskets. These are the common things that we see in the market. This could help every piece to breathe and stay good until the right time that you are going to use them. After freezing it, move it to any of your airtight container.

You may even make your very own dehydrated garlic. This is just easy. Slice thinly your peeled garlic then pop those slices to a food dehydrator or oven but keep the door ajar. If you use the oven, maintain a good 115 degrees temperature. Once all of them are crisp, store them in airtight container. This could be stored in room temperature and can be good for many months.

You could always roast your garlic. To most users this one is their way to enjoy the vegetable. This is because everyone can just freeze it for as long as they want. People like this because of its mellowness and cooking will be easier because we often roast garlics.
