They are large enough to contain almost everything that you need in a journey and tough enough as well to be used in any type of road travel. One of the known manufacturers of trucks is the General Motor Company. As early as 1912 they were already producing this vehicle type. The company started the manufacture of GM trucks in 1912. This happened after the company was able to acquire two independent car producers. The very first models that were released in the auto market were known for their fortitude. Over the years the company maintained this trait for their produced vehicle. In fact they further their product durability when their company was selected as one of the suppliers of trucks for the World War 1. When they were tapped for this project they were able to experience very high profit since numerous units were sold to the US government. In fact they have sold more than 90% of their fabricated trucks during the 1917 as well as 1919 time period. Aside from that, GMC also felt privilege for participating in that task. They were able to tender their very first truck for US army. This is a fact that the company is still proud of up to this time.

The early vehicles of GMC were not instant hit in the market. As a matter of fact a lot of consumers were doubtful at first on this brand. But marketing strategies of the company prevailed. Their winning promotional tricks eventually gained them popularity. They even went as far as promoting their product across the boundaries. The GM truck models were continuously subjected to modifications and alterations to produce more high performing vehicles. In due course the company was able to come up with trucks that can hold more, can function well and tolerate more.

GMC was still tasked by the US government to build the trucks that they will be using in the World War II. The government required more vehicles this time. So the company was forced to fabricate more in a shorter time frame. The company though was able to deliver providing trucks that the military can use in the war just when they are most needed. With this GM was voted for the "E award" to recognize their excellent contribution in the military task during the war. The said award was big for the company since this paved the way for their popularity in the auto industry. Together with the fame is their greater than before profit. The 1950's and 1960's were the grandest years for GM. It is in this period that they were able to gain the interest of the public. Also this is the time when they were able to construct and offer more models of trucks, about 75. The new models that they offer were packed with features that made them more pleasing. Thus in this period, GM was declared as the third of the largest manufacturer of trucks globally.

The impact of economic crisis is also felt by GMC with higher cost of raw materials and production. This is even more intensified with aggressive competition among vehicle brands. However their advertising scheme still worked so they were able to counter the effect of the crisis and continued to produced high quality vehicles that are well known all over the world till today.V:26
